The First Sunday of Advent, November 29, Bishop Buchanan made his second Episcopal Visitation to St. James Church, Griggsville. The Bishop celebrated the Eucharist and preached. The Bishop's sermon was "Four things Episcopalians believe". His wife, Peggy accompanied him. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary the day before. A reception luncheon was served in Memorial Hall following the service. Their 45th anniversary was celebrated and they were presented with a flower arrangement and card signed by the members of the congregation. The Bishop met with the Mission Committee prior to the service and spoke with the congregation during the luncheon.

The Feast of St. Francis was observed at
St. James Church, Griggsville, with the traditional Blessing of Animals following the morning service. This tradition has been followed at St. James for many years with parishioners bringing their pets for a blessing.

 

Also, the church family recently celebrated ten years of ministry with Father William Roeger as their priest. A carry-in lunch followed the 10:00am service. Father and Mrs. Roeger were presented with a photo album depicting events of the ten years.


St. Paul's Cathedral, Peoria
was recently honored for the congregation's support (adoption) of Columbia School as part of the Peoria School District "Adopt A School" program. For years, the cathedral has provided classroom supplies for distribution to students. 

 

School personnel presenting St. Paul's with a commemorative award were; Columbia Principal, Dr.Cindy Janovetz and District Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Hershel Hanna. 

 

St. Paul's was represented by Diocesan Administrative Assistant Lisa Carter, parishioners Margaret Claussen and Hugh Piper, Fr. Tom Stone, Dean Robert Dedmon, Judy Dedmon and Fr. Christian Maxfield.
